Dr. Petra Kern

Dr. Petra Kern is an internationally recognized consultant, educator, researcher, and innovation leader advancing inclusive, evidence-informed, and future-oriented practice across healthcare, education, and community systems through global collaboration, digital innovation, and interdisciplinary partnerships.

Education & Global Capacity Building

Dr. Petra Kern is a board-certified music therapist in the United States, Canada, and Germany and earned her doctoral degree from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Witten/Herdecke in Germany.

She currently serves as Fulbright Specialist (2024–2027), advisor to Sinfonía por el Perú, and industry advisor at LASALLE College of the Arts Singapore, supporting inclusive arts education, workforce development, digital learning, and international collaboration.

Through consulting, teaching, keynote presentations, and interdisciplinary learning initiatives, Dr. Kern collaborates globally with universities, healthcare systems, NGOs, and professional organizations to strengthen leadership, participation, and future-ready professional practice.

Research, Innovation & Practice

Over the past three decades, Dr. Kern has advanced inclusive and evidence-informed approaches across healthcare, education, and community systems. Her work connects research, practice, technology, and human-centered design to strengthen participation, learning, wellbeing, and access across diverse populations and settings.

She has authored and co-authored more than 150 publications and contributed to international surveys, digital resources, and applied frameworks shaping contemporary music therapy, interdisciplinary collaboration, and future-oriented professional practice.

Leadership, Publishing & Global Engagement

Dr. Kern is former President of the World Federation of Music Therapy and has held leadership roles across international governance, strategic planning, scientific initiatives, editorial development, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

She is initiator and editor of imagine, a globally recognized multimedia eJournal connecting contributors from approximately 50 countries through accessible digital publishing, interdisciplinary dialogue, and collaborative knowledge exchange.

An internationally sought-after speaker and advisor, Dr. Kern contributes to global conversations on inclusion, digital transformation, workforce development, artificial intelligence, and future-oriented systems change.
