Technical and Equipment Requirements

Both student therapists and clients will need access to a computer or mobile device with a webcam, microphone, and a secure video conferencing platform (like HIPAA-compliant tools) that supports high-quality audio. A stable internet connection with sufficient speed and capacity is essential.

Student therapists should have musical instruments, props, and visuals ready for their early childhood telepractice sessions. Clients are encouraged to receive or purchase a basic instrument package before starting the service.

Telesupervision Guidelines for Universities

Universities interested in telesupervision should review their internal policies, along with state regulations and accreditation requirements, such as those from the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA).

Clients must sign the university program’s consent forms before starting early childhood telepractice sessions.

A contract between the university program and Music Therapy Consulting must be signed before telesupervision can begin.
