This summer, Dr. Petra Kern delivered a video message for the Closing Session of the European Congress of Music Therapy in Hamburg, at the invitation of Drs. Josephine Geipel and Anne-Katrine Jordan. Her work centers on ethical, clinically grounded, human-centered integration of AI into music therapy. Over the past year she has published, presented, and—every week—prototyped and evaluated AI tools across clinical practice, research, and education. In parallel, she co-leads an international study on how AI and virtual tools are reshaping the profession, with global findings forthcoming. The horizon is clear: evidence-driven, interoperable, and unwaveringly human-first AI that augments music therapy.
